If you have had a private lesson with me or you were in a wedding that I serviced you, you know what the pink sponge is! Then after you purchased the Beautyblender you wonder how in the heck you did your makeup application before this magical sponge. For all of you who have not been exposed to the Beautyblender this blog post is for you!
What is the “Beautyblender”
“The unique shape and exclusive material available only with beautyblender® ensures impeccable, streak-free application with minimum product waste. Use it with primers, foundations, powders, cream blushes, and any other complexion product.”
Why I love it
Not only does it provide a flawless finish with a liquid foundation but it also has many other uses; blending out concealer, using it to apply your primer if you do not want to use your fingers, and even using it for your bronzer or blush! With this sponge you do not need any other brushes for your complexion application!
Using this tool you can be assured that you won’t walk out the door with cake face; it absorbs all the excess product that is not needed.
How to use it
Just stick it under water so it can expand and squeeze out the excess with a towel or paper towel. If you do not get this sponge wet there is no point in using it and if you don’t squeeze out the excess you may compromise the products you are placing the sponge in (like your powder products). Bounce off the skin in small motions.
How to care for your new found lover (ok that is dramatic but I am kind of serious)
I recommend buying the Beautyblender Cleanser (solid or liquid form) because it will not interfere with the matrix of the sponge. However; I have used dish soap mixed with olive oil. Stay away from cleansers with salicylic acid or glycolic acid because it breaks up the sponge.
To zap all the germs stick it in a bowl of water (makes sure sponge is filled with water) and stick in microwave for 35 seconds. Do not grab right away because it will be really hot (I of course have done this before).

(Pro suggestion: best bang for your buck is the duo pink Beautyblender with Liquid Cleanser option)
There are a lot of knock offs out there, I wouldn’t waist your money. Haven’t found one yet that is a good dupe.
